What is a B Corp?
Independent verification of how a business operates
B Corp Certification is an independent certification administered by B Lab. It assesses a company’s social, environmental and governance impact, including how it supports its workers, serves its customers, contributes to communities and manages its environmental responsibilities.
Becoming certified required Soho Lighting to provide evidence of its policies, practices and performance. It also means embedding consideration of people and the planet into the way business decisions are made.
For our customers, it offers greater visibility and accountability. For us, it provides a rigorous framework through which to measure progress and identify where we can do more.

Who awards B Corp Certification?
Certification is administered by B Lab, the non-profit network behind the global B Corp movement. B Lab assesses and verifies eligible companies against its standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
What did Soho Lighting have to demonstrate?
We were required to provide evidence across our governance, workers, community, environmental and customer practices. The process examines the business as a whole rather than judging a single product or initiative.
Does certification mean Soho Lighting is perfect?
No. B Corp Certification is a commitment to accountability and ongoing improvement, not a claim of perfection. It gives us a robust framework for measuring impact, setting priorities and reporting progress more transparently.
